11 Aug 2010Newly Developed Welding and Cutting Parameters to Save 4,700 Labor Hours per DDG 1000 Class Ship The results of this project allow welding of the deckhouse to the deck much faster than planned. 18 May 2010 More Efficient Surface Preparation Will Save CVN 79 Life-Cycle Costs Methods to reduce the amount of conductive contaminants on the surface of specific tanks and voids were developed, reducing cost and schedule risk. 07 Apr 2010 Small Diameter Pipe Fitting Prototype Tools and Fixtures Being Implemented at VCS Shipyards This project is applying improved pipe preparation methods and automated technologies to decrease construction costs through the reduction of man-hours by 20 to 30 % in pipe shop welding processes.
